Healthcare records are a subject for an engaging discussion across the world. In India, we are just seeing the beginning of this debate. On one hand, many corporate hospitals have taken concrete measures to collect, maintain and drive insights from patient health records. While on the other hand valuable data is either not stored properly or is lying locked up in paper forms. Insights that could have saved lives are never collected.

India has just seven registered allopathy doctors per 1,000 people; Indian healthcare was ranked 112th in the world by WHO; It takes almost 133 people to take care of 1 patient in a tertiary care hospital; There are now 133 touch points where patient safety can be compromised; Our healthcare system is unable to measure Patient safety, a very important parameter, mostly due to lack of longitudinal records;

It is therefore unsurprising that most discussions in the healthcare sector today are focused around ways and means to build more infrastructure and increase access to care.

Social Media Survey Report for Dental Practitioners in India by @drvikram and @drmayurdavda


  • 63% of respondents say they use social media professionally but only 28% have a budget for investing in it
  • 70% of respondents use social media to connect with peers; only 51% use it for patient education


Dental practitioners are reluctant adopters of social media for professional use, according to a survey report by HealthCare in India and The Dental Education. While 90% of survey respondents said they used social media for personal use, only 63% indicated that they used it for professional purposes such as connecting with peers (70%), raising awareness of their practice (61%) and educating patients (51%).
